The history of the settlement of Caxias do Sul begins in 1875 with the arrival of the earliest Italian immigrants to the hilly region of Rio Grande do Sul. On June 20, 1890, the municipality was created.

The mountainous region of Rio Grande do Sul, has always drawn the attention of tourists, mainly, due to the sub-tropical climate, the landscape and the hospitality of the Caxiense people.
