Maximizing efficiency of hydraulic systems is especially important for tractors, in part, due to higher horsepower losses that will accompany Tier 4 engines. Higher fuel prices and strict safety and noise regulations, especially for machines marketed in Europe, have added to the system challenges that Sauer-Danfoss tackles daily.

While demand has continued to increase for large horsepower machines, 200-650 HP, we’re designing higher efficiency, integrated systems that implement more safety features than ever.

One example of engineering for higher efficiency is our use of more variable displacement pumps rather than fixed displacement pumps. Doing so makes better use of available horsepower. Another example, regarding regulatory compliance and safety, is our development of a new steering valve which enables you to implement SIL2 steering systems.
