Simone Dilling
Technical Support Engineer
Propel Division
Neumünster, Germany
What are your responsibilities?
As part of the tech support team, we communicate a lot with sales people and engineers to get technical questions answered and issues resolved for our customers – to keep the relationships running smoothly. I have responsibilities for working with people in France, Denmark and the Netherlands, so it has an international feel. I’m also involved in doing some training, leading projects and handling the intranet page for our team.
What attracted you to Sauer-Danfoss?
I was looking for a global company – one that’s big, but not too big – so I could match my training in business and mechanical engineering with a job. I had just graduated from the Technical University of Braunschweig and this is my first job – a very good one as it has turned out.
What do you like best about working at Sauer-Danfoss?
I really enjoy working with people and finding answers. You never know where your next call will come from and that keeps things interesting. My colleagues are always willing to help find answers. So I have people who can help with personal and professional development. My boss is giving me more and more responsibility and that’s exciting.
What do you find most important about your position?
The challenge of getting the right answers and working with all kinds of people in different departments around the world. You get a good picture of how others are working. In the process, you build a great network of people and get a big picture view of the company.
What do you find most rewarding?
I get a chance to see the customer, help choose machine components, see the actual machines and how they work. It’s great when the machine is starting to work well and customers are happy.
What company values do you see practiced in the workplace?
Definitely teamwork. We are living proof that a diverse group of people can provide support to each other and work with each other successfully in different countries.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I spend some time at a small airfield learning to fly gliders. You definitely have to be team player to do this sport. I enjoy getting close to nature and also spending time with friends.
Does Sauer-Danfoss offer opportunities for work-life balance?
Yes, with flexible hours and time arrangements. As long as you’re doing your job, you can work in appointments and work from home. By spending time with colleagues you can share experiences and knowledge. It makes work fun.
Any advice for applicants to Sauer-Danfoss?
No two days are the same. It’s all about communication. If you build your network and communicate well you’ll have a great time – with a great employer.
